Marketers including De Beers, Waterford and Clarisonic are using watermarked print advertisements in the May issue of Brides magazine to allow brides-to-be access to mobile-optimized content and the opportunity to participate in a contest based on the title’s re-launch.
Brides released a companion mobile application called "We Love It" and is holding a contest with its advertisers. The contest will encourage users to view mobile content by offering entries to win a grand prize each time they scan the digital watermarks with their smartphones.
The watermark technology created by Digimarc is invisible in an ads, but detectible with a smartphone’s camera. Normally, readers can reach mobile ad content by scanning these pages with the Digimarc app. In this case, the We Love It app contains the ability to scan the Digimarc watermarks.
