Former P&G global IT chief to help lead tech firm

Andy Walter, who was vice president for global commercial services at Procter & Gamble Co. until this August, has been appointed to the board of the tech firm Digimarc Corp.

Walter, who led IT and shared services for global business units and markets at the Cincinnati-based maker of consumer goods such as Tide detergent (NYSE: PG), will help oversee Digimarc as it expands its involvement with retailers and consumer products manufacturers.

The Oregon-based firm (NASDAQ: DMRC) specializes in digital watermarking and content identification. Digimarc Discover software enables industrial scanners, smartphones, tablets and other computer interfaces to identify barcoded items that can be imperceptible to people.
