The 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, unveiled this week, uses Digimarc Discover™ to bring the models' photos to life with behind-the-scenes video. The imperceptible digital watermarks, which can be thought of as invisible QR codes, are embedded directly into the cover and 19 different photos throughout the magazine. Using the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Viewer app - built by Nellymoser - readers of the magazine can simply access the online videos by scanning the model's photo with their iPhone, iPad or Android mobile device.

"The annual Swimsuit Issue is an American institution and we're thrilled that Sports Illustrated selected our technology to create a fun, engaging experience for its readers," said Ed Knudson, EVP, Sales & Marketing of Digimarc Corporation. "SI has really showcased the creative versatility of Digimarc Discover as a next generation print-to mobile platform."

This is the second year in a row, Sports Illustrated has worked with Nellymoser, a Massachusetts-based mobile marketing and technology services company, to power the Swimsuit Issue's mobile campaign. The SI Swimsuit Viewer app provides a completely branded mobile experience that enhances the print issue. Satellite TV company, DirecTV, is sponsoring the free app and features Supermodel Kate Upton in brief DirecTV ads at the end of each video.
