2020 Retail Data Insights from Adobe

April 30, 2021

COVID-19’s dramatic impact on retail and consumer behavior during this past year is difficult to overestimate. Ecommerce sales, BOPIS (Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store), the impact on particular product categories, and smartphone shopping have all been transformed by the pandemic.

Each year, Digimarc’s long-time collaborator Adobe releases its “Adobe Holiday Recap Report,” a trusted annual report using AI (Artificial Intelligence) and machine learning to identify important retail insights during the previous year. The report measures trillions of visits to U.S. retail sites and offers critical data for retailers and consumer brands.

We recorded an interview with Adobe’s Michael Klein, Director of Industry Strategy and Marketing for Retail and Consumer Goods, to get this year’s highlights.

Questions Explored:

  • What are the most significant data points and what do they mean for retail in 2021?
  • Will shopping habits transformed by COVID-19 continue when the pandemic is controlled?
  • What does the report tell us about mobile scanning and consumers?
