A Closer Look at Compassionate Leadership

April 09, 2024

In a modern corporate context, what is compassionate leadership?

Fostering and investing in the well-being of employees through employee assistance programs (EAPs) and employee resource groups (ERGs) is a good start. Today, however, programs are no longer enough. Employees are seeking purpose and connection. The best work environments are created through a dynamic of trust, integrity, and partnership. Doing well by doing good is more than a slogan.  Strong mission-driven work that employees can take pride in is a new requirement to drive internal cohesion.

These are just a few of the things that experts note Digimarc, the pioneer and global leader in digital watermarking technologies, has successfully done under the stewardship of CEO Riley McCormack since April 2021.

Laurel Donnellan, host of the Compassionate Leaders Circle podcast, recently highlighted Digimarc’s focus on protecting the rights of content creators, authenticating lifesaving medicines, and increasing the effectiveness of plastic recycling worldwide, and she described these efforts as “doing critical work to make the world better at a time when the planet needs as many effective altruists as possible.”

Available free on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast providers, this 20-minute episode addresses corporate values, company culture, and four key principles for building and motivating a strong team. Learn more about compassionate leadership and how to apply it within your own organization when you listen now.
